How it all began.
My parents exposed me to a variety of sports through my childhood, to see what I would like to pursue more seriously. Over the years, I tried gymnastics, soccer, swimming, basketball. Nothing really “clicked”, until one day when I was in second grade at Leman Manhattan Prep, I tried tennis. I absolutely loved it. I have been at it ever since and my passion for it only continues to grow.
Broken bones, unbroken will.
When I returned to Massachusetts and rejoined Fay School, I took my commitment to tennis to the next level. I spent countless hours training at Westborough Tennis and Swim Club, and I was improving fast. Just as I was about to join their ladder program at age 10, disaster struck. During a footwork drill, I fell and broke both bones in my right forearm. A few weeks later, I learned the bones hadn’t healed perfectly—good enough for most people, but not if I wanted to keep playing competitive tennis. I made the tough decision to have the doctors re-break and realign the bones.
Effort pays off.
I applied to the Fay Varsity Tennis team in sixth grade and, against all odds, was accepted - the youngest player to have done so in 15 years! This coming year will be my third season, and I’m just as excited as ever—for the matches, the challenges, and the teammates who push me to be better every day.
Practice never stops.
I love tennis so much, that even during a family vacation to the sunny Bahamas, I needed an occasional break from the beach and the snorkeling to practice.
