Animals don’t have a voice of their own, so I believe we need to speak and act for them. During this season of giving, I wanted to do something to help animals in need. I contacted Worcester Animal Rescue League and offered to set up pet food donation boxes at local grocery and pet stores. I then spoke with store managers to request their permission. When some could not authorize it, I called their corporate headquarters. It took persistence but I was able to make it happen. The community really stepped up, and together we collected close to 400 pounds of donated items. It has been incredibly rewarding to see people’s generosity, raise awareness, and help pets waiting for their forever homes have a happier holiday. One of these animals is Zuko - you can see her in the video below. She was hit by a car and lost one of her legs, but she is a sweet, resilient, and cheerful doggie who would make a wonderful pet for any loving family.
